From Permit to Delivery: What Happens Next
We know there is strong community interest in what happens next following approval of the Planning Permit for the Arthurs Seat Eagle upgrade.
The Permit provides permission to progress the upgrade, within clear and defined conditions and defined limits. This approval is an important step, but it is only one part of a broader process that now moves into a detailed design and delivery phase.
At this stage, we want to share what can be confirmed about the work now required to progress the project.
The approved Permit retains the four key components originally proposed, with only minimal design changes. It also allows for a staged approach to endorsement and delivery, with the project divided into:
- Stage A: Base Station
- Stage B: Luge and Luge Platform
- Stage C: Summit Station
- Stage D: Tower
These stages sit within the scope of what has been approved under the Permit, with further work required to guide how the project moves forward.
The next phase of work is highly detailed. The Permit includes more than 100 conditions, some with multiple subsections, and these now need to be worked through carefully and methodically. In practical terms, this means preparing advanced drawings with detailed responses showing how specific Permit requirements will be addressed.
Our immediate focus is on working through these requirements, along with the broader planning, technical, operational and delivery considerations involved in an upgrade of this scale.
There is a significant amount of work ahead before we can consider how the project may be sequenced or staged in any detail. That work will help inform the next phase of decision-making and ensure any future progression is properly assessed and aligned with the Permit.
We understand the community is seeking clarity about what comes next. We also believe it is important to communicate carefully and speak only to matters we can confirm with confidence.
Our focus is on progressing this work carefully and conscientiously, and we will continue to share updates when there is clear and meaningful information to provide.
